Prayer of Consecration

Consecration of the North Staffs Deanery to the Immaculate Heart of Mary "...is not the enraptured gaze of Mary as she contemplated the face of the new-born Christ And cradled him in her arms, this unparalleled model of love Which should inspire us every time we receive Eucharistic Communion”

Like the apostle John, we wish to take you into our homes and hearts:

We consecrate our Deanery to your Immaculate heart

And entrust ourselves to your maternal care.

We entrust our parishes, our schools, our chaplaincies and our homes.

We entrust to you all people, especially the most vulnerable:

The babies yet unborn, those in poverty and those who suffer;

The young in search of meaning, the unemployed and the elderly;

Those who are alone and feel without help.

We especially entrust to you all our families.

Guide us ever closer to your Son, the source of all happiness,

Especially in the great mystery of the Eucharist:

As you united yourself with him at the foot of the Cross,

Help us to unite ourselves more closely with him in the Mass;

As you contemplated his face in the stable at Bethlehem,

Lead us to adorn him in the Blessed Sacrament

And to receive from him with humble trust.

To you dawn of Salvation

We commit our journey through this millennium,

So that with you as guide, all people may come to know Christ,

The Light of the World and its only Saviour,

Who reigns with the Father and the Holy Spirit,

one God, for ever and ever. Amen
